Where Your Heart Is, There Lies Your Purpose

purposeMany walk through the maze of life wondering where their treasure is, asking what they should do to launch them into an untold wealth and fame. Many pray, fast, and cry; eyes lifted to the heavens with tears for the secret of wealth and happiness. I have often wondered myself. A few souls strike gold and live their lives to the full , some found it, loss it and found it again Why? because they had the secret.

Every soul born into this world came loaded with a purpose, a dream, a talent, a gift, a cause. As we grew up, we painted beautiful pictures of how our lives will be when we become adults. Unfortunately, the hope of many became dashed, because when they arrived in to the future, they saw nothing but broken dreams and aspirations. Why?

Because many refused to follow their heart. They ignored the leading and direction of the heart. Some even cared less about such deep matters of destiny as long as their daily needs are met. They care more after meeting their basal needs, meeting society expectations and live in total ignorance of what they were born to achieve. But these same people, when they hear of those who took the time and effort to pursue their life purpose and finally strike gold, become envious and utter condemning words.

Many receive dreams, directions, omens and strange visitations pointing to their cause in life. A few take heed and after years of working at it, they receive the treasure. But many either ignore these signs, or allow them to be buried through the cares and worries of living and surviving. Before we know it, age is no longer on our sides and what is left is bitterness and the guilt of unfulfilled dreams. It is unfortunate that uncountable multitudes went to the grave without knowledge of what their purpose was all about, another multitude had a glimpse of it; but they did not believe enough in the dream to pursue it.

A good number died while trying to achieve it and a few found the treasure, they fulfilled their dreams and lived out their destiny.
Those who died on the way to finding their treasure are much blessed than those who never ventured out, those who cruised through life without any goal or purpose, those who cared only for their daily bread. We should all strive to see our dreams fulfilled, fueled by passion and faith, but it is better to die working towards it than going through life without even having had an idea about it.
On the way to fulfilling our dreams and purposes, we get to meet people who will either help to guide us through the thick cloud of trying to achieve and those who would discourage us based on their own failures. We will come across jesters, thieves and evil of all kinds, but within you is deposited wisdom to overcome all. We will encounter episodes of attacks, depression, failures and disappointments in our life journeys which are lessons that will aid us in reaching our destinations.

purpose 2

In the story of the Alchemist written by Paulo Coelho, the boy who was in search of his treasure, not only got his treasure; but he also got an extra belonging another soul (a robber) who did not believe in his own dreams. The robber carelessly gave out a dream about where his treasure was hidden, but he was too lazy to travel the desert and wilderness in order to reach the temple in Spain where the treasure was buried. Yes, he stole the piece of gold which belonged to the boy. But the boy laughed, knowing that the treasure he was about to discover was much more precious that the gold he lost to the robbers; versed in understanding dreams and omens and knowing that the secret of getting another treasure has been carelessly thrown at him.

Getting to the treasure of our lives could be  tedious, dangerous and  involve an investment of time and a lot of failed and repeated efforts. Many turned back on their dreams when they perceive that the cost is high, yet they complain as they languish through life in penury, lack and unhappiness. In the journey to find your treasure, you get to receive other wisdom treasures that are only available to those who venture out for such feats; you also get to develop relationships that are pleasurable and fulfilling. Above all, you delight the creator who put the dream in your heart, planted the treasure and led you through signs, omens and visitations to locate the spot.

Have you given up on your dreams and purpose because of life difficulties?  Arise. Try and continue to try until you strike it. Never give up on those dreams because of  the difficulties you are facing at the moment. I understand what it means to be discouraged. I go through moments of discouragements also. But life will only recognize those who fought to the end and it has a way of rewarding those who persisted.  Imagine you finding that treasure , see in your mind’s eyes the glory, the joy and completeness. Isn’t that worth fighting for? Life will not just hand its hard earned treasures into the hands of a nobody, it must examine if you are qualified.

Are you about to fail the test? About to give up on that your journey? I bet you don’t. Follow your heart. It will lead you  through the right directions. And don’t forget the signs on the way, they are there as pointers. And go read the Alchemist if you haven’t. That is one of the books apart from the Bible which I believe  every traveler  on the journey of life must read.

See you at the top.
